EPRIS Journal is free to read, on the website and in the app. These terms are the few rules that come with that, written to be read rather than skimmed past.
These terms apply to the website at eprisjournal.com and to the EPRIS Journal app for iPhone and iPad (together, “the journal”). “We” and “us” means EPRIS Journal, the independent publication behind both. By reading the journal you accept these terms; if you do not, please don’t use it. How we handle data is set out separately in the Privacy Policy.
The journal is free. There is no account, no subscription and nothing to sign up for. You may read it, save articles for offline reading and share links to it for your own personal, non-commercial use.
Please don’t:
Texts, photographs, illustrations and design in the journal are protected by copyright. They belong to us or to the writers, photographers, artists and other rights-holders credited alongside them, who have allowed us to publish them. Images published under an open licence, such as those from Wikimedia Commons, remain under that licence and are credited accordingly. The name EPRIS Journal and its masthead are ours.
If you believe something in the journal infringes your rights, write to us with the page, the work concerned and your connection to it, and we will look into it promptly and remove it where appropriate.
You are welcome to quote short passages for commentary, criticism, research or news reporting, provided you credit EPRIS Journal and the author, and link to the original article. Sharing a link, or the share card the journal generates, never needs permission. For anything larger – a reprint, a translation, a photograph – write to us first.
The app is provided free through Apple’s App Store and is licensed to you, not sold, under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which these terms supplement. We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and its content, for supporting it, and for dealing with any claims about it. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
Articles you save in the app are downloaded to your device for your own offline reading, and are subject to the same terms as reading them online.
If you send us something to publish – answers to an interview questionnaire, photographs, a text or a correction – you confirm that you have the right to send it, and you allow us to edit, translate and publish it in the journal, on the website, in the app and in the journal’s own channels, credited to you. You keep your copyright. You may withdraw an unpublished submission at any time; once published, we will consider a request to remove it in good faith.
The website may offer a way to support the journal financially. Support is a voluntary contribution, not a purchase: it does not buy content, access or advertising, and it does not create a subscription. Payment is processed by the provider you choose. If you made a payment in error, write to us and we will do our best to put it right. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under consumer law.
Articles reflect the views of their authors and interviewees, not necessarily ours. The journal is published for cultural and informational purposes and is not professional advice – on architecture, construction, investment in art or anything else. We take care to be accurate; if you find a mistake, tell us and we will correct it.
The journal links to studios, galleries, museums, social media and other sites it writes about. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content or their handling of your data.
We work to keep the journal online and correct, but provide it “as is”: it may occasionally be unavailable, change, or contain errors, and we may add, edit or withdraw articles at any time. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from use of the journal or from its being unavailable. This does not exclude liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
We may update these terms as the journal changes. The date at the top of the page changes with them, and continuing to read after a change means you accept the new version. If one part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
