Cookies and Local Storage

Last updated 25 October 2026

EPRIS Journal sets no advertising or tracking cookies. This page lists what is stored and why.

1. Short version

We do not use advertising, profiling or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics. Because of that, the website does not show a cookie-consent banner: nothing it stores needs one.

2. On the website

The website may keep a few strictly functional items in your browser’s local storage, such as your chosen reading language or theme and the state of controls you have used. They stay in your browser and are not used to identify you. Clear them at any time in your browser settings.

3. Page-view counting

Page views are counted by a self-hosted counter without cookies. It records a salted, truncated hash of your IP address rather than the address itself. See the Privacy Policy.

4. Third-party content

The site loads typefaces from Google Fonts, and some articles embed images, maps or videos from other services. Those services may set their own cookies once you interact with them; video embeds do not load until you press play. Their policies apply to that content.

5. In the app

The iPhone app uses no cookies and no tracking identifiers. It stores your saved articles, reading progress and settings on the device. If you sign in with Apple, it also keeps a sign-in token in the iOS Keychain so you stay signed in.

6. Editors’ tools

The editors’ desk and administration pages use a sign-in cookie or token that is strictly necessary to keep an editor signed in. It is not used for tracking.

7. Your choices

You can block or delete cookies and local storage in your browser at any time; the journal remains readable. If we ever add anything that needs your consent, we will ask first and update this page.
