Yesterday, on July 7th, 2026, something special happened in the life of the EPRIS editorial team. Mariia Ivanova – our editor-in-chief, and the person whose brainchild this journal is – officially became a Bachelor of Architecture. Years of drafting, models, and sleepless nights before her thesis defense are behind her now. A new chapter begins – and we couldn't let it pass without marking it here, on the pages of EPRIS.
It's no secret that an architect's eye runs through every issue of EPRIS – in the way we talk about space, light, and detail. Today, that eye earned its official credentials.
Those who worked alongside her on this issue know the ritual well: studio lights on late into the night, tracing paper covered in revisions, a cup of coffee gone cold beside the model she kept rebuilding until it finally felt right. That same restlessness – the refusal to settle for ‘good enough’ – is what has shaped this magazine since its very first page.
A Heart Made of What Inspired Her
Some of these buildings she has visited in person, sketchbook in hand. Others she has only ever seen in photographs. We hope that one day, she gets to see every single one of them with her own eyes.
Architecture taught me to see the structure behind the beauty. EPRIS taught me to tell others about it. To me, they're two languages for the same feeling.
The EPRIS editorial team congratulates Mariia on her degree, and thanks her for the inspiration that lives in every issue of the journal. This diploma marks a new chapter – and we suspect it won't be the last one worth celebrating. We're glad you're reading it with us.
