World Architecture Day · 5 October 2026
Dear architects, students, makers and lovers of places,
Before a building becomes part of a city, it is something small enough to hold in your hands. A pencil line. A folded sheet. A piece of card patiently cut and glued. A model turned towards the window to see where the light will fall. Architecture begins in these modest gestures – and in the extraordinary belief that an ordinary day can be made better.
Today we are celebrating that belief, and the people who keep it alive. The sketches redrawn, the models rebuilt, the questions asked one more time. The care that rarely appears in the finished photograph: a handrail that feels right, a door that opens easily, a room that leaves enough space for someone else. Thank you for the imagination – and for the patience behind it.
For the rooms that welcome us. For the cities that let us belong. For the people who imagine both.
The human measure
At EPRIS, architecture is close to the heart. It shapes the way we notice light, tell stories and look for meaning in a detail. We love its great gestures. But we also love the quiet ones: a shaded courtyard, a generous threshold, a bench where you can stay without having to buy anything.
This year’s World Architecture Day theme, “Housing is a Human Right. Build It.”, brings us back to the essential. Beauty should not stop at the image of a building. It should reach the person who lives inside it. A safe, dignified home is the beginning of that promise, not its finishing touch.
A wish from our worktable to yours
May you find collaborators who listen, clients who trust and the courage to protect a good idea. May there be fewer exhausted nights and more mornings when a difficult drawing suddenly makes sense. May your spaces hold conversations, childhoods, small celebrations and the simple relief of coming home. And may you never lose the pleasure of noticing how sunlight changes a wall.
Happy World Architecture Day. Thank you for making a little more room for life. With warmth, the EPRIS editorial team .
